This policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies (for example local storage and pixel tags) on this website. It must be read together with our privacy policy.

In Finland, privacy of electronic communications and related topics (including many practical questions about cookies and similar technologies) are regulated in national law together with EU instruments. The main consolidated statute is the Finnish Information Society Code (Tietoyhteiskuntakaari 917/2014, as amended), supplemented by sector-specific provisions and guidance from the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom). The GDPR applies whenever cookie identifiers or similar data constitute personal data. Regulatory practice evolves; we follow published Finnish and EU guidance and update this policy when our technologies or interpretations materially change.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your terminal equipment when you visit a site. Similar technologies include local storage entries, session storage, scripts that read device information, and third-party pixels. They can be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by another service embedded on our pages).

2. Categories we use

Strictly necessary / essential: required for basic functions such as remembering your cookie choices, load balancing, or security. Under Finnish and EU implementation practice, these may be used without consent when they are genuinely necessary to provide the service you actively request.

Analytics (optional): helps us understand traffic volumes and page use in aggregate form. We load such tools only if you choose “Accept all” or switch analytics on in the settings panel.

Marketing (optional): may include advertising or social-media measurement pixels if we add them later. They remain off unless you opt in.

3. Legal bases

Non-essential cookies and similar storage on your device are based on your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) obtained through the banner and settings. Essential cookies rely, depending on the case, on the legitimate interest of secure operation (Article 6(1)(f)) and/or performance of a service you request, interpreted in line with Finnish and EU regulatory guidance.

4. Third-party embeds (Google Maps)

The contact page may embed a Google Maps frame provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. Loading the map can cause Google to process technical data (such as IP address and device identifiers) under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. Where required, we rely on your prior choices in the cookie layer; if you decline optional categories, avoid loading the map or use the textual address instead.

5. Storage periods

Consent records in local storage are refreshed when you revisit, typically up to 12 months. Session cookies expire when you close the browser. If we deploy named analytics or marketing cookies, we will list their maximum durations here and configure expiry as short as reasonably possible.

6. Managing and withdrawing consent

You can reopen the cookie settings from the site banner at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser; blocking essential storage may prevent the banner from remembering your choice.

7. Your rights

For rights regarding personal data (access, erasure, etc.), see the privacy policy. For complaints about electronic communications privacy in Finland, you may contact Traficom’s guidance services and, for GDPR matters, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

8. Changes

We will update this policy when we change which cookies or similar technologies we use or when regulators publish material new guidance.
